1 teaspoon butter (optional, for more flavor and softness)
100g mozzarella cheese, grated or cut into small pieces (adjust to taste)
A splash of cooking oil
Preparation
In a bowl, mix the corn flour with the salt.
Add the warm water and butter (if using) little by little, kneading until you have a soft, manageable dough.
Add the mozzarella cheese cube and seal it tightly so the cheese doesn't escape.
Divide the dough into portions and form arepas of the desired size.
Heat a frying pan with a drizzle of oil and cook the arepas over medium heat, approximately 5–7 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy on the outside.
